About
The Early Years Institute (EYI) brings communities together to expand and improve quality learning opportunities for young children.
As a community, we’ve got to do things differently to make sure Long Island families and children get what they need to succeed. We must see to it that nurturing, safe, high-quality and affordable early childhood experiences are available, and that all families and professionals have access to easy-to-use information and resources about young children’s healthy development. And we need to do a better job of working together. The Early Years Institute is bringing people, resources, proven programs and practices together —from around the state and around the world—to create the early learning support, services and systems needed by Long Island families.
EYI looks at the whole child in terms of their physical and mental health, family support, education and social and emotional development. We’re committed to giving every child the opportunity to reach their potential and be well-prepared for school. And we want to partner with you to help create rich learning opportunities for young children that promote successful outcomes, and increase the number of people who care about the success and well-being of Long Island’s youngest citizens.
Our vision: Long Island to be viewed as a national leader of communities that recognizes the value of children.
Our mission: The Early Years Institute, a regional non-profit organization based in Plainview, NY, serves as a catalyst for community partnerships and innovations to ensure all young children have the opportunities they need to succeed in school and life. EYI is viewed as a trusted source of information and a thought leader on early childhood education issues, development and learning.
